Default Siblings ears stand, his don't...

Hi -
I have my first GSD as an adult and he's 10 weeks old. I wasn't concerned about his ears because I know they tend to go up and down throughout puppyhood, but a few things have got me a little worried. First thing, he had one ear standing for almost a week and now its soft again like the other. And secondly I heard from the breeder that all his siblings' ears are completely up. In addition, both of his purebred, working like GSD parents have standing ears. Am I doing something wrong? I am worried he may not be eating enough or properly. (he is a fussy eater and doesn't always finish his food) We feed him Iams which is what we have fed all our dogs, including GSDs, but I have seen a lot of people bash it on this thread. Any ideas? Thanks!

He is only 10 weeks old! They will both go up and down as he teeths for the next several weeks or even months. If you saw one of them standing at one point it will come back up. My dog's didn't stand until he was almost 14 weeks old. One would be up and then go down and the other would come up and go down and then they were both down and then they both came up. Just wait it out. Give your dog some hard things to chew on to help the teething process.

Yes, thank you for your help. :-) I know he is super young and it's not much of an issue yet, but I appreciate the insight anyways. Hopefully his ears come up like his siblings!

They will! Lots of things to chew on. Bully stick, rawhide, pig ears, etc. The chewing helps the progression of teething and will get them up quicker, It also helps create the muscles that help them stand. Chew CHew CHEW!!

Our dogs love the bully sticks but be warned, they sure do stink once they're wet. LOL!

Just because the littermates' ear are up doesn't mean anything. Was your puppy the biggest in the litter? The bigger the pup the longer it will take. If they've been up once before, they will go back up when they are ready. Plus he is only 10 weeks old WAY TOO SOON to worry.
