Default Shave the ears?!

My 6 month-old GSD's ears are up and down, up and down. So, today I ask a GSD buddy what I should do and he said the problem is that the ears are too heavy. I should SHAVE THEM! I about fell over. He did it to his GSD and it worked right away---never mind the stitches that he had to get after shaving his GSD's ears. Anyone try this?

I've heard of some people doing this with the coaties, but not the stock coats.

Yep, he had to go to urgent care. My kid asked, "How much does GSD hair weigh, dad?"

I think it was the owner that needed stitches.
