WRONG... Canidae doesn't package their OWN food, let alone anyone else's.

I was concerned about this as well, so I contacted the East Coast Sales Manager. He assured me that this is not a "generic" mishmash, but will only contain herring and menhaden fish. The actual ingredients are posted on this page of their website: http://www.canidae.com/ingredients/thefinest.html

Also, anyone who purchases a bag of Lamb formula should notice that there are stickers on the front of the bag that indicate the formula has changed... the stickers state that they are now including "fresh lamb" and "diversified carbohydrates".

The changes to their formulas are posted online at: http://www.canidae.com/new-formulas.html

to be honest, im ok with the changes, as it looks like their will be more animal source protein in the new als formulation.(if dogs dont tolerate barley, this will be a problem) im not quite as ok with the use of diamond foods to cover their lack of production capacity in texas. i know canidae will have alot of direct oversight in the process at the diamond site, but i wish they could have found another way.

Sorry I meant Diamond was processed for Natural Balance and had the problem with the venison varieties dog and cat.

Also Diamond had the problem with the Aflotoxin the previous year where many dogs died.

Now Canidae will have their stuff processed by Diamond.

however, i asked my feed store which brand is comparable quality/price and chicken soup is right there. the supplements i give my dog adds an additional 100 cals... and CS is 100 cals less than canidae... so at some point the switch might happen for those reasons.

I had another question about Canidae but while I had the representative on the phone last Thursday, I asked about formula changes. I was told that the Lamb and Rice formula had changed about a month ago. (My daughters dogs are on this formula and suddenly everyone in the house had the runs!) It cleared up quickly but some warning would have been nice. The rep said for whatever reason, they had not had time to change the packaging but that there would be packaging changes on the ALS once the new formula was released. She also went on to say that the formula change was an upgrade....more meat cooked at lower temps so there would be a color change as well. She also said more fruits and veggies were to be added in the new formula and that the change was to better the quality not to cut costs.

I like to switch brands about every three-four months. I go between Canidae, Chicken Soup, Taste of the Wild and Wellness.

im am going to start rotating wellness core and/or orijen with the canidae anyway, but for now canidae will stay in the mix. if i feel i want to switch, id be happy with innova adult in place of the canidae.

I am looking at Innova. It won't be until the babies are born and weaned if I have them though.

I may stick with Canidae, but I am keeping my options open. I am going to research Innova sometime this month.

I like Wellness Core, but it is expensive. I wonder costwise, caloriewise, how it compares with Innova.
