I'm considering doing a homemade diet and raw for the dogs. I'm still in the research stage. I'm looking at a stew like food in the crockpot. I would do 4 days of this diet and 2 days of raw(organs/bone/fish, etc-ratio would be for the week divided by 2)
So I'm looking at chicken as a base with one other rotating protein(beef, turkey, pork, goat, emu).
It will consist of protein, with water added(to make thicker I was looking at coconut flour). I have to watch what I put in because of two of them. No rice, sweet potatoes, or peas.
So far I'm thinking..kale, green beans, carrots and potatoes. Along with that I will also add Tumeric, caraway seeds, cinnamon , basil, ginger, garlic and possibly a dried pumpkin and maybe some cranberry.
The two days they don't eat this they will have bone, eggs, tripe, gullet, trachea, fish, liver, kidney, spleen, pancreas, brain and testes. All of this will be a balanced ratio for the week.
Any thoughts? What else to add to give it nutritional value? It will be slow cooked on low for several hours. I'm looking for something that is nutritional and filling. I'm looking at cost effective, at least until the vet bills are paid down.
