Need Opinions On Merrick Dog Food

Ok guys, I need the good, the bad and the ugly about Merrick dog food.

What are your experiences with this brand?

Do you recommend it?

Is there anything shady about this company or anything I should know?

Thank you!

Ingredient list looks good and they have some new flavors out. The owner may be an issue. You can google Garth Merrick.

He sent a letter many years ago regarding types of dead animals for use in dog food. Here is the letter

Wow! That was an interesting letter Kr16! Thanks for posting it!

Per Susan Thixton's info request to Merrick:
"Merrick Pet Foods stated foods that contain canola oil or grains will contain GMO ingredients."
"No information provided to country of origin of supplements."
Canned Food: "12 oz. cans contain BPA in the lining." "Contains canola oil. Contains carrageenan."

Moms:)

Can someone please explain what the letter means? I think I'm missing a piece of information.

What was the proposal he's arguing against?

My dogs like it, Lauren.

Regarding the letter, any dog food is going to have SRM's in it unless they are raising/buying and slaughtering the whole animal. Interesting letter nonetheless given the amount of waste that is thrown away if not sent for rendering. And interesting in that the product must be sourced in the US if he's quoting the amount of SRM in Texas slaughterhouses.

I thought Merrick was bought out by a big corp.???

Personally, we're very happy with Victor dog foods. Have to order it but it's sourced and made in Texas. And it's not nearly as expensive.
