Default picking dog food

Hey guys currently my 3 month old Ares is on Iams puppy large breed. Now I've been seeing a lot of post saying iams is bad, I don't understand why. I was looking at blue buffalo yesterday at petco and $60 a bag seemed like a lot. So what makes blue buffalo good? And what in general am I looking for in a good brand of dog food. So that ares will grow as healthy as possible?
