Thoughts on Feeding 65 lb. Female

Need some advice. My one year old female is 65 lbs. and has been at this weight for the last several months. I'm currently feeding her Fromm large breed puppy food, a little over one cup in the morning and the same for her evening meal. I'm ready to transition her over to adult food but I'm not sure how much to feed her. My other two female GSD's are around 85 lbs. and not overweight by any means. They eat Fromm large breed adult and are fed the same amount as my 65 lb. female. I guess my question here is being that she's a good 20 lbs. lighter than my other two and is already being fed the same portion size as my other two, should I still feed her the same amount on the adult food?

Try it out and see what her weight does. Just watch her body composition and adjust.

Kcals per cup for Fromm LBP = 389

Kcals per cup for Fromm LBA = 378

Not much difference there.

She is maintaining on her current amount (not gaining, not losing) so I think you are safe to keep feeding the same amount. Just keep watching body condition and adjust accordingly.

65pounds (29kg) is a really good weight for a 1yo girl.

Yes, great weight but I'm so used to the size of my other two that I have to constantly remind myself she's not as big as them and to not over feed her with food and treats!

Best to grow her slowly and she is only 1, so she is yet to fill out, which they usually do by 3yo, but I would only allow her to gain an extra 2 to 4 pounds by 3yo. 65 to 70 pounds is an excellent weight for a fully grown GSD bitch.

Whenever I'm switching between foods I do a kcal per cup comparison like GrammaD shows above, and adjust the quantity accordingly.

My male is only 67lbs. Granted he's not a huge dog. I have had 90lb.+
GSD's and i have the mindset now that lean and thin is better. I learned the hard way with a dog that developed hip/back issues. The weight didnt help. If your doesnt look sickly you may just have a lean built dog.weight isnt everything.
