One of my non-GSD dogs is having some serious allergy issues since switching from Orijen 6 fish to Acana Pacifica, I'm not sure if it's something in the new formula or what but it's bad enough that she's on two different types of medications right now.
But since my GSD pup is also having some poop issues on his kibble(Fromm) I've been thinking of switching them back to Honest Kitchen which they've all done extremely well on(it's just so EXPENSIVE). Anyways I've been thinking about going the root of using preference with adding meat... I'm just totally clueless WHAT to add. My husband is a vegetarian and we mainly eat vegetarian at home, we rarely have meat let alone raw meat. If you feed this way can you give me some examples of things you add? Thank you!

I use Preference on a daily basis and I've never had any problems. The mixing ratio on the box is ok but for my dogs I've changed a few things..I do more meat than mix and add more water. I've used all sorts of meats...beef bison lamb ostrich pork chicken turkey..it's all been ground because I have a very picky dog who doesn't like chucks. I always recommend Preference to anyone who has large dogs cause it is more cost effective. Now if you can find a co-op to join in your area the cost of meat will drop.

Do you think it's still cost effective if you can't buy in bulk? I can't do a full raw diet because of this reason so I was looking for an alternative.
I'm looking around for butchers near me but I would only be able to buy whatever I could fit in my fridge's freezer at the time.

It really depends on where you live..I'm in Missouri and its super cost effective except beef. When I joined the co-op it cut my food bill in half.
I think it well worth doing..even if you have to get meat once a week due to space. There are other pre made raw diet..SoJo is a pretty good one..I've never compared prices to Preference and meat. Sent from Petguide.com Free App |
