Default Need help (for a friend)!

Hi all,

Okay - first - let me say that I have NO CLUE when it comes to kibble - other than I know not to choose one with corn and that I would probably go all grain free if I did feed kibble..... but .. I don't. I feed raw and so when my friend who just got a new dog asked me about a good quality cheap kibble.... well... I said I would find out... lol.

Here is what I know (if more information is needed I will get it).

4 year old GSD
Active (they are considering doing agility with him)
No corn (this was my preference and told them that I wouldn't feed corn)
No chicken
Doesn't want to spend more than $40.00 (CANADIAN) per bag per 2 weeks (wants to buy the biggest bag available)

They also have a medium mix breed already that is fairly active although he won't be doing any sports, just an active family member. They would like to feed the same food too.

So, can I get some recommendations on some good quality kibble for them? Price is a concern for her because I did mention Origen and Acana (sp?) and she told me it was too highly priced.

Thanks for the help!

Solid Gold Barking at the Moon - your friend can feed it to both dogs. Yes, it is pricey, but they don't need to eat as much as a less quality food so the cost is actually a lot less.

What about Kirkland if there's a Costco near by? I don't feed it but many do and it's fairly priced.

I second Kirkland. Ive used it in the past and there seems to be plenty of members on the forum who use it and are happy with it.

I have fed Diamond Naturals for years, Kirkland is the same company which can be purchased at a Costco if one is available.

I have no idea of the price range in Canada or even if it's available up there.

I pay 34.00 for a 40# bag , Comes in lamb, beef or chicken..ON sale at TSC it's usually around 25.00 which is a bargain

Tho they've had recalls, and I've tried just about everything that's out there, I always go back to Diamond, my dogs do well on it..

Fromm Gold here is like forty something for a 33lb bag. They also have a regular adult formula thats thirty something for a 33lb bag.

Fromm's Beef Fritatta from their Four Star Line has no chicken in it and it's grain free as well as corn free

It runs about $80 a large bag, but the same size of LBP feeds Delgado 4 cups a day for about 5 weeks so even if it's a few dollars more they would only have to probably make one trip a month rather then two

Unfortunately the rest of their recipes have chicken in it both in the Gold or Four Star line

I buy mine from Global Pet Foods, Fromm has a buy 12 get the 13th bag free card as well

Just a suggestion .
