I know that most of us on here are feeding higher quality foods, but in case anyone is feeding their dogs, Beneful, please read this article..

your link didn't work.
This one seems to be the same article? Purina's Beneful dog food killing dogs nationwide; No recall issued by FDA (Photos) - San Diego Top News | Examiner.com FYI: Purina's treats are part of the latest China recall.

Yikes! I doubt anyone here might be feeding that but just in case, here's the link:

Beneful is one of the most beautifully portrayed foods on TV. We have had applications where people feed it and we always recommend they switch due to poor ingredients. But this is good information to have as backup for those who say their dog loves it...of course they love it, it's got sugar in it!
(eta) I'd advise against it due to ingredients but I really don't trust the examiner as a "news source" at all. Last edited by msvette2u; 01-16-2013 at 12:25 PM. Reason: I saw the link/story |

I remember last year when we had Joey for a short time, I had the bright idea that maybe he'd like a change from the Royal Canin we were feeding him. I bought some Beneful from BJs (12-pack of wet food).
He got so sick it scared us. I threw the rest of it out. It could have been his system reacting to a new food, but you never know.

I have the same rule in my house. I keep the products from China to a minimum, and absolutely no food from China.

I just got an adoption application from someone who looks like a good adopter except for feeding that stuff. I'd been pondering how to approach a conversation about better food -- this link gave me a very polite way to broach the subject. Thanks!
