Another what to feed thread

3 gsd, gsd/mix dogs. We go through a high amount of food. Currently feeding Blue Buffalo, dogs do good. Our one male needs some daily pumpkin to keep things 100% firm, but its not a big deal. They love the pumpkin as a treat. Good skin and hair, no health problems.

The issue is cost. At $50 per 30 and 2 65lb and a 90lb dog food goes pretty quick around here. What are my options for a good quality food that can save me money? I don't want to deal with recalls and liver problems. Raw isnt the table right now due to feeding location. Opinions?

If you are feeding that many large breed dogs then without question Victor is the way to go. The grade of Victor that is most like BB is about half the price. I cannot remember the distributors name but it is a nationwide distributor and probably any feed store can order it for you if you can't find it. The non-gf Victor foods are generally $.75lb.

If you don't mind on-line, Petflow has a unique arrangement with Dr. Tim's for 44# breeder bags, yes 44# at $1.30lb delivered even for the best in class 30/20 Pursuit. Retail this food is close to $2lb.

Other options would be Precise Foundation and Canidae in the bonus bags, PMI Exclusive and Regal.

Of the ones I mentioned Dr. Tim's Pursuit and Kinesis are a steal. If you don't like online, then by all means try to find Victor.

The Victor plant is a good one and makes Nature's Logic and a few others that are no better than Victor but cost twice as much.

Victor looks interesting. Have to check pricing. The Dr Tims at pet flow was more than Blue Buffalo locally. I pay 48-51 per 30#

Dr. Tim's is 44lbs not 30lbs. $1.39lb no tax.

You are paying up $1.70 plus tax with BB.

Victor is a no-brainer. Oh the distributor for Victor is Ivesco, just ask your local feed store to get it from Invesco.

Yeah it shows two local kennels stock Victor. I need to source a sample and see if they even eat it.
