My dogs (except Daisy) like sunflower seeds. I don't give them the shells. I've never thought much about them being toxic to dogs. Now, my poodle, has decided that when I eat them he will beg for them. Since he is so small, I decided I better look it up to ensure they aren't toxic. Most websites I find say they ate fine, but I found two sites that said that sunflower seeds and peanuts were toxic. Anyone have any input?

My dogs have eaten them from under my bird cages and also under the outdoor bird feeders with no ill effects. But they don't chow down on a large portion either, just a few now and then. Dogs eat peanut butter just fine, so wonder what the difference peanuts would be compared to peanut butter?
I've never heard either were toxic. |

Here is what I found awhile back. They talk about nuts. I personally have had issues with sunflower seeds getting stuck in the folds of my intestines, boy that was extremely painful. My doctor said he has a lot of people that have problems with sunflower seeds. So I would think they would not be good for dogs, I do not give any kind of seeds to my dogs.
