Jocoyn the new food product that you have chosen for Beau sounds pretty good. What though is porcine plasma , or maybe I should ask that on your other thread ?
answer to this ". Carmen what is different about the ground sunflower seed you add to feed-sentials and the added sunflower oil" Yes I do add organic sunflower seed ground up , incorporated and packaged the same day. I do recognize the balance of the omega 6 . Ideally a dog that is fed a raw diet is not as exposed to the over abundance of omega 6 available through grain fed diets , so that is in favour of correcting the balance. Secondly Sh-Emp and Power of 3-EA's are deliberately not balanced , and are corrective in being higher in omega 3 . Thirdly there is a difference for a isolated part of a food , that is in this case the sunflower oil , "OilCompared withHemp Oil GOOD OIL GOOD OIL Hemp oil is on the healthiest oils. It is naturally rich in Omega 3 (including Omega 3 SDA - a more potent form of Omega 3). It has one of the lowest amounts of Saturated fat and the highest contents of Polyunsaturated fat (the Essential Fatty Acids) amongst all theculinary oils. It also contains Omega 6 GLA (usually found in Evening Primrose oil). It also contains an ideal ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3.Olive Oil GOOD OIL has 40% less saturated fat than Olive OIl. Olive Oil does not contain hardly any Omega 3. In fact Hemp Oil has 25x more Omega 3 than Olive Oil. Rapeseed OilRapeseed Oil has 50% less Omega 3 than Hemp Oil. It is often used for frying. Sunflower Oil Sunflower Oil contains no Omega 3. Because is contains a large amount of Omega 6, it would worsen the deficit of Omega 3 in a normal diet. Because is contains a large amount of Omega 6, it would worsen the deficit of Omega 3 in a normal diet. --- Sunflower seeds contribute omega 6 which is an essential fatty acid to be sure , but it also provides complex Vitamin E and other anti-oxidants , good source of B's, magnesium for bone development , calming stress modifying trytophan and choline, selenium , folates, "The seeds are incredibly rich sources of many essential minerals. Calcium, iron, manganese, zinc, magnesium, selenium, and copper are especially concentrated in sunflower. Many of these minerals have a vital role in bone mineralization, red blood cell production, enzyme synthesis, hormone production, as well as regulation of cardiac and skeletal muscle activities" so a wealth of benefits -- . Omega 6 is one of the essential fatty acids . One function is for blood coagulation , the opposite of Omega 3. Omega 6 contribute to hormonal balances in progesterone and estrogen. Sunflower seeds provide a nice addition of digestible protein , and for a raw fed dogs , whose diet may be predominantly chicken , will provide iron , which chicken is a poor source of - and one other thing , some fiber . I think that is pretty good stuff! The problem with Anthony is putting more omega 6 onto a kibble which is already outbalanced in omega 6 . sorry for the repeat , I was distracted by something that needed my attention |

So essentially you are saying, the seed as a whole food provides many things for many reassons as opposed to an extracted oil, which has none of the benefits of the whole seed, just the Om. 6?
