The OP is not outraged, he is so happy that his thread has this many responses. There have been so many Orijen-is-great-feeding-anything-else-means-you-don't-care-about-your-dog threads that most of us just ignore them now.

We feed Canidae Grain Free and yesterday I almost had a heart attack when we went to buy one bag and the total was $73!!!! It went up almost $10 dollars!!! I was so upset, we buy a bag per week with as many dogs as we have. It is ridiculous!!!

I have seen the new labels for Orijen and basically the pressure of being owned by a private equity firm (to increase profits) has resulted in significant and cheap non-animal sources of protein being added to the food.

Two kinds of lentils and chickpeas and more peas. Also the fiber has doubled and psyllium has been removed.

I suspect that the amount of poo from this new food will be significantly higher.

That is criminal. You should be aware those foods are still made by Diamond and according to Canidae there are no plans to stop that.

Also, you should be aware the protein GA is not as good as you think. The ASH level of 9% in that food suggests that a good portion of the protein comes from bone, which in a cooked state cannot be used by the dog.

Last, the phosporous level of 1.5% is pretty much in the danger zone and at the AAFCO limit of 1.6%. High phosphorous can damage even healthy kidneys over time.
