We feed Canidae Grain Free and yesterday I almost had a heart attack when we went to buy one bag and the total was $73!!!! It went up almost $10 dollars!!! I was so upset, we buy a bag per week with as many dogs as we have. It is ridiculous!!!

I have seen the new labels for Orijen and basically the pressure of being owned by a private equity firm (to increase profits) has resulted in significant and cheap non-animal sources of protein being added to the food.
Two kinds of lentils and chickpeas and more peas. Also the fiber has doubled and psyllium has been removed. I suspect that the amount of poo from this new food will be significantly higher. |

Also, you should be aware the protein GA is not as good as you think. The ASH level of 9% in that food suggests that a good portion of the protein comes from bone, which in a cooked state cannot be used by the dog. Last, the phosporous level of 1.5% is pretty much in the danger zone and at the AAFCO limit of 1.6%. High phosphorous can damage even healthy kidneys over time. |
