I weighed Bear this past weekend since I hadn't weighed him since he turned 1 and I was very surprised to see that he had dropped a pound. Right now he is at 73.6 lbs at 13.5 months.
I know a pound is not a lot, but he has virtually weighed the same since he was about 10-11 months. In all other aspects he is very healthy, his activity level is great, his stools are great so I have never been concerned with his health. I had upped his food about 2 months ago to see if he could maybe gain a little extra weight but Bear self regulates his food and will not eat more than 2 cups twice a day. Bear is coated so it appears that he is a very healthy weight, but if I put my hands on him you can feel his ribs quite easily. Should I be concerned? I know that he is still growing and filling out, but it seems that he has stalled in the weight department. I am glad that I kept him trim during his early puppy growing time, but now I wonder if he shouldn't be putting on more weight now? At what age does weight level off so to speak?

Is he running around more with the "cooler" weather?
Or did he have a really huge poop just before you weighed him? LOL I remember with my last dog that she always dropped a couple of pounds in late September b/c she JUST loved the cooler weather and was more active? Just a thought

I have been trying to exercise him a little more to burn off that ever present energy, but as I said he's been this weight now for the past 3 months now. I guess it's made me wonder if I should be concerned or looking out for something. Believe me I am not looking for a 100 lb dog, I'm happy that he's on the slight side, I just worry that he hasn't gained any weight and if that's normal.

To me you should be able to feel your dogs ribs - that is always how we have gauged our dogs weight. His weight does tend to fluctuate a few pounds up and down - he was at about 78 or so but now he is back down to 75. I wouldn't worry about it being just a pound - obviously if he starts to consistently lose weight - then you would have an issue.
