So changing foods would be better than giving him more of the food he's on?

Do you want to give more calories, or more nutrition? The food you're feeding is awfully high in carbohydrate and low in protein and fat for a young, active dog. I would rather feed more calories from fat and protein, than calories from carbohydrate.

ok, that makes sense. I didn't think of it that way. Definitely more nutrition, not just empty calories.

Be great if you could include some photos, a side shot and then one from above looking down.

Also how MUCH are you feeding each day. Exactly with a 'real' measuring cup. I have a friend who used to feed their dog using a coffee mug as a measuring device so their 'cup' measure was nothing like what a real 'cup' should be.

My camera is broken but I will try to figure out how to do it with my phone.

I'm feeding 4 cups per day and I measure with an actual measuring cup

I stopped by my local pet food store this morning. They suggested Acana but when I saw the price I had to decline. Just can't afford it. Then they suggested Fromm which is grain free. It has a 30/19 protein/fat ratio. Anyone familiar with this brand? I bought a small bag to see how his stomach does on it.

You should be able to feed less with Acana so it will last longer. My GSD is on 2 cups a day, she is 70 pounds.

I have heard really good things about Fromm but I haven't researched it. They sell it at the local all natural pet food store I get my dog's food from, and they wouldn't sell anything bad there.

Same with the store I went to. It's an all natural/organic locally owned store. I didn't realize about feeding less with the Acana. If the Fromm doesn't work I will look into that next. Thanks
