Default Do you feed Large Breed food?

Right now I'm feeding my girl Innova Large Breed adult, and my GSD mix boy Innova Large Breed senior, but recently I started doubting that was the right food.

Well, Negra is a tall-ish girl and weighs about 80-85 lbs. But my boy has short legs even if he's as long as a GSD, and he weighs somewhere around 75 lbs.

Maybe I should switch my Lobo to the regular Senior food instead of Large Breed? What do you think? Do you feed Large Breed food to your GSDs or "regular" adult/senior?

Nope. Rocky eats a regular senior food; Kopper gets regular hi-pro performance food.

Just feed an adult with appropriate calcium levels. Most adult formulas are actually rated for ALS (all life cycles - puppy, adult, senior).

It's just harder to sell to puppy owners when there's an adult dog on the bag. If you want a bag with a cute puppy on it, feed a puppy formula.

Good to know! Thanks so much, Emoore and Lucy Dog!
I was thinking that was the case so I started thinking I should change to regular formulas.

The Large breed adult one has 0.90% calcium and the regular one 1.23%.

Large Breed Senior 1.0% Calcium and regular senior 0.99%.

I don't feed puppy food, large breed, senior, lite, ect.... It just isn't necessary. And often they cost more too. For no other reason than people are willing to pay more. Because it isnt that they are " better".

I do not, personally. I feed Nutri-Source Grain Free, and the Large Breed has a lot of potato, but the normal does not. Have heard that with their ears, it's safer not to use a lot of potato if the choice is there, so we feed normal.

I feed large breed Fromms because Wolfie likes either the taste or the shape of the kibble better. I was feeding regular, and bought the large breed one time, then back to the regular, and Wolfie wouldn't eat it. I tried the large breed again and he ate it up.

I don't. I do not think there is really that much of a difference, particularly after the puppy stage. But even in the puppy stage, I do not think it makes that much of a difference. And they charge as much if not more for a food that has less calories and protein. I think it is a rip off. JMO.
