Default How many Kcals per day does your dog get?

Yeah, this requires math homework. Figure out how many Kcals/cup are in your dogs food, or Kcal/Kg and then figure out how many Kcals/day your dog eats. Also include pertinent information like age, size, activity level, etc.

Rocky-- Almost 10 year old male. 78lb and fairly sedentary. He's lean and we try to keep him that way. Gets 3 cups of Precise Senior, which has 400kcal/cup. Total of 1200 kcal/day.

Kopper-- 1 year old male, 75lb and active. He's kind of lanky and still growing. Gets 4 cups of Victor 30/20 which has 450 kcal/cup. Total of 1800 kcal/day.

Oh, I just did this...

Pimg-- Almost six years old. Female. 69 pounds and very fit/trim/lean (and gorgeous). Currently she's pretty sedentary, but we're fairly active under normal circumstances. 3 cups/day of TOTW Pacific Stream for a total of 1080 kcal/day.

Mikko is 6 years old, fairly active with agility training and trials.
It's hard for me figure out exactly because we feed a mix of kibble, raw, and homemade food. If we're traveling and only feed kibble, we usually do 2.25-2.5 cups/day. Right now, he's eating Nature's Variety Instinct Duck, which is 464 kcals/cup, which comes out to 1044 to 1160 calories/day.

NutriSource® Lamb Meal & Rice- 344 kcal per cup- 3.5 cups/day = 1204
Then… I mix in beef scraps (1/2 cup) and beef broth (1/2 cup) … my best guess from trying google it… is about 600 cal??? (feel free to chime in on this one)

So, with out including treats/supplements I am at 1804 (or so)

Viktor is 3 years old, 2.5 months ago was malnourished at 60 lbs. I have not weighed him since 2 weeks after I got him, when he was 68 lbs. I am guessing him at 75+ now (need to check this). Moderately active weekdays, more active weekends.

The vet wants him around 85 lbs, will probably go without/reduce the beef supplement once he hits that mark.

Nikon - 3 years old, ~77lbs - California Natural Lamb and Rice - 3-4 cups/day = 1290-1720 kcal/day

Pan - 16 months, ~75lbs - California Natural Lamb and Rice - just upped to 5 cups/day (he's looking rather scrappy) = 2150 kcal/day

Coke - 5 years, low drive, low exercise, large but lanky, 65lbs - California Natural Lamb and Rice - 2.5 cups/day = 1075

All three dogs get several pumps of salmon oil plus occasional food treats and table scraps.

Jazz is 2 years old, 27" tall and 82 pounds. He eats Purina Pro Plan for SS which is I believe 430Kcal/cup. He eats 6 cups a day so he's consuming approximately 2500 kcal. He gets about 1.5 hours in the winter off leash in the field.

I know it's a lot of food but if I feed him the recommended amount he loses a lot of weight and becomes underweight.

OK I think I did this right, let's see

Kaos 9.5 yrs, very minimal activity @ most he gets 15 min walk on grass once a day per vet instructions and because more than that leaves him in a lot of pain. 120 lbs (don't shoot me prime weight was always about 105-110, we're trying) He is 30 inches tall. Eats Castor/Pollux weight management 4 cps a day, 340.5 x 4.....so 1362 a day...is that too much?

Sherman Tank, Mastiff/GSD mix 9 month (+), 92 lbs, 2-4 miles walk a day, 2-3, 15-20 min fetch sessions. I'm guessing about 27-28 inches tall seeing him next to Kaos. Eats Castor/Pollux large breed adult 5 cups a day, 323.7 x 5 ....1618.5.

So now that I got a headache doing that math, anyone with knowledge is that a good amount of calories for each of them? I'm no good at "nutrition" so I truly would like your knowledge

All dogs vary so the best indicator is how they look and feel. If they look and feel good for the amount your feeding then continue what your doing.

Well....Kaos looks like the overweight old man at a nursing home who only wants to be bothered at meal time He's way to heavy due to his arthritis and lack of mobility. I'm torn because he acts like I'm starving him now...so part of me just wants to let him be and live the rest of his days fat/happy....but the logic side of me says I've got to get some weight off him....just not sure how?

Tank...I think he looks good? I am aware a mothers love is blind though.

ETA...sorry not trying to hijack...if any one has any opinions they can PM me. Emoore I did want it on your thread though, because you seem knowledgable a bit of a straight shooter...of course that's just my opinion So fire away~
