I'm switching one of my dogs over to TOTW. (Adult dog with no allergies or digestive problems.)
When you switch between Salmon, Roasted Fowl, Bison, etc, do you need to transition as you do when changing food completely?

I usually just change them straight over, as long as I know they can tolerate whatever ingredients are in the new food.

I don't think it's a dumb question at all. Not all dogs are blessed with an iron stomach- or perhaps it is more accurate to say a few dogs are cursed with a very sensitive digestive system. There are only two times that I've made a drastic change to my dog's diet- both times put her in the hospital. (One bloat, one blockage)
For me- I simply CANNOT make immediate changes like that. So nope, not a dumb question at all. (But I'll tell you- I am somewhat jealous of all those 'normal' dogs that can switch without issue.)

I feed Natural Balance Ultra It is a very high end dog food that I have to have it
mailed to me but the wonderful puppy class trainer that I have made me aware of how important their food is. I have to pay more to have it shipped but my baby is worth it. ( I got a little overzelous in food ordering however and I'm tripping over 2 extra bags in my porch JUST IN CASE SHE RUNS OUT. LOL) |

She is definitely loving TOTW, though. She'd refused to eat the old stuff for almost two days before I decided to try to mix in the TOTW samples I was given.... she SCARFED it. If the world is fair and wonderful, I will eventually have all dogs on the same food. I will not hold my breath, though.

I do a gradual transition for a few days "just in case". I think you have to be more careful if the dog has a sensitive stomach.

when my dog was a pup he went on 2 hunger
strikes. one time he didn't eat for 3 days. i switched his food (not gradually) and he ate it with no problems. since then i'm always switching brands and variety with his kibble and can food. switching food gradually or instant switch probably depends on the individual dog how they react.
