I contacted IAMS and they said there is no recall. I've checked FDA website as well and nothing there. It seems the original post linked from the recall link was taken down.

They have posted continually on their Facebook page when asked about this and they said no recall. I don't think they would do that and take that risk to say no if it really wasn't true.

But - thank you for keeping on top of these type of things and alerting us to what you find out - you never know - remember the 2007 melamine recalls? Who can forget....so many pet parents are still walking on egg shells.

Aflatoxin is nothing to mess around with.

EDIT - disregard - seems it was a product pull per the link above.

I filed a report with the FDA using their reporting mechanism for pet food.

From my report:

--------------------------------
Date problem started
11/29/2011

Describe what happened
A report about IAMS recall appeared here:
Iams Recall I asked IAMS about this on
their Facebook page last night. They said NO RECALL. Good. I'm feeling better. Then
I get an update to the story http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com/art...-iams-it-wasa-
product-pull.html (this is the updated report). it was a product pull.

Per the website:
"according to a Iams Customer Service Representative. The notice that three varieties
of Iams pet food tested with "elevated aflatoxin levels" wasn't meant for public notice. It
was a product pull, not a recall."

This is very concerning. I feed Iams cat food. I don't
have the lot number for the "product pull" but is my bag safe? Iams says they follow
over 100 safety checks. How does food get out there in the public, then silently pulled
and we as consumers are not alerted? I thought there was going to be more
transparency since the 2007 Melamine recall that was in pet food .... What kind of non conformaties occured in production and what are they doing to address these?"

---------------------

will let you know more when I hear from the FDA
