Default Menadione.

So what is everyones thought on this being in a kibble?

Everything I have seen says it is BAD. Yet daily I see folks recommending kibbles that contain it. What gives?

What foods do you see recommended that contain it?

I don't know if you're looking at dogfoodanalysis.com, but you can't trust their ingredients lists. Many of the ingredients lists on that website haven't been updated in at least 5 years. Years ago lots of food did contain it but they've started removing it in the last 4-5 years, and analysis websites haven't updated. I know several foods are listed as having menadione on that website that do not have it anymore.

You know I really don't know but it is easy enough to avoid and I have not had any issues with dog bleeding to death without it. This site has some pros and cons.

Emoore,

Nope, I'm getting the companies own websites. Well in the last 24 hours alone I have seen ANF and Nutro both recommended and BOTH contain it.

Oh ok. Does anybody feed Nutro anymore? Never heard of ANF.

It is impossible that you saw anything bad because not one dog has been harmed by that form of K3. What you saw is a study where 1,000 times the amount in dog food was INJECTED not eaten and it caused hemolytic anemia, which could be caused by many things injected in the bloodstream. K3 is the only form of the vitamin permitted to added to dog food and its required in some cat foods depending on the amount of fish. K3 is water soluble and much safer than the fat soluble forms.

Vitamin K supplements of all kind are banned in some countries because of abuse by athletes.

I am not saying it is required but it had always been added as a precaution because the natural sources are not as consistent.

The amount in some dog foods is miniscule.

I don't mean Seen as in "I saw it with my own eyes" I ment everything I have READ. I guess I should have said that. Thats what I get for figuring it would be understood without having to spell it out.

And never saw (OOPS I mean READ) anything about any study injecting anything anywhere.

Since when is anyone recommending Nutro? Show me one post where someone says "hey you should feed your dog Nutro".

And I've only seen ONE post about ANF and that was from someone in ASIA. You can't expect them to have the same foods over there as we have in the US. You can't be like "That is crap, you should feed Orijen. Can't afford to import it? Get rid of your dog!" (Which I know many people on here who would actually have the balls to say that. Not directing that towards the OP) That could very well be the best they have available to them.

I don't know what your issue is with me today, but you need to GET OVER IT. Look up the Nutro thread for yourself.

And I have NEVER, EVER even hinted that someone should get rid of their dog because they can't fed Orijen which I never have nor ever will feed. I personally couldn't care less if someone chooses to feed 'Ol Roy as long as they are doing it with their eyes open.

I don't have an issue with you but YOU do like to call ME out in threads about MY choice of foods. I actually used to like you as a member but your own attitude lately has really put me off. Which Nutro thread is it? Because I stalk these boards and haven't seen ANY in the last 24 hours where someone told someone to feed Nutro. I even tried searching "Nutro" and found nothing.

And if you read my post (which you tend to have a real issue with) I said Not directing that towards the OP. My goodness! I think you need to get your own panties out of a wad because this is the second time today you've taken something out of context because you didn't read the whole freaking post.
