Default Back to Basics dog food

My GSD wont touch his food often till he is very hungry it seems like, im switching out his food and I am trying a brand called Back to Basics.

Dog Food Analysis - Feeding Guidelines - Back to Basics

The lady at my local feed store recommended this to me, and Memphis seems to like it more but he still is not just eating it up. Would y'all recommend staying on this or switching out. My local feed store rep said this is a good food and more palatable.

Memphis' history:
Fromm gold puppy, orijen, totw (worked for a while then got bored even though i was switching out the flavors often), Evo red meat, and now we are at Back to Basics.

Some dogs are just more food motivated than others, just like some people. If he eats it and is doing well on it, I think you'll do more harm than good switching food all the time searching for something he'll just love.

I don't find anything wrong with switching foods as long as you do it slowly. I rotate a between foods every bag I buy. Variety is good!

You could also give Nature's Variety a try- a bit cheaper and with great ingredients. It seems like it would be palatable because the kibble is coated with a freeze-dried raw coating.

Nature's Variety is the ONLY food that Cheyenne will eat without adding something to it to make it more appealing!

Which formula of Back to Basics are you using? You can switch monthly from the Pork to Duck to Turkey and keep him guessing. That's what I do and all three of mine eat it up. Every dog will be different though.

I think rotating can be a good thing for variety if you have a good eater. If you have a picky eater and keep switching from food to food just to try and find something he'll eat heartily, you can inadvertently make him pickier in my experience. Before long your dog's breakfast sounds like my morning Starbucks order: Grande chai Evo with a shot of TOTW, topped with peanut butter whipped topping and egg white drizzle. And heaven help you if you run out of peanut butter.

{I agree with what you said about making a picky dog pickier. Am laughing at how you worded the last part. }

Have you checked Honest Kitchen raw dog food? My dogs LOVE it. I only wish it cost a little less.
