Default Nupro Silver

I know Nupro Silver has been discussed many times here, but I am considering swapping out Mikko's separate Gluc complex, Omega-3, and Ester C for it.
My question is this- is the recommended dose of 2 scoops- which is 1000mg glucosamine, 600mg MSM, and 600mg Ester-C enough? And is there enough Omega fatty acids in it? This is for maintainance for a 6 year old agility dog with no history of joint problems.

The other product I was looking at is Annamaet Endure, which has 1000MG - Green Lipped Mussel (freeze dried), 1000MG - Glucosamine HCL, 700MG - Chondroition Sulfate (shark), 500MG - Ascorbic Acid (vitamin C), 3000MG - Psyllium Husk Powder per dose.

I like how Nupro has a lot of other benefits besides joint health, but it is expensive if the 2 scoops worth of glucosamine isn't enough.

The suggested intial amount is 2 scoops. After 3 months you're supposed to cut back to 1 scoop. That's what we did with Rocky and it worked great.

That just doesn't seem like enough glucosamine to me.

Annamaet Endure is what I would use. I don't trust many companies when it comes to supplements but I know literally several hundred dogs on Endure. I buy my food from a sled dog trainer that has 50 of her own and always has dogs in for training and she gives every dog from age 2 on Endure. Her lead dog last year just turned 12, if you can believe it.

The fact that it comes from a guy that actually knows working dogs tells you something.

For general maintenance on a middle aged dog with no joint problems, I think it's a great general supplement. Though I don't think it has quite enough omegas or ester-c, and would give additional sources of those. For a dog that does have joint problems, additional joint supplements would be advisable. We have used Nupro silver for years and have been very happy with it for general maintenance, but do give additional fish oil and C, and joint supplements as needed as well.

Well I figured you would, since you're the one who suggested it to me in the first place. I was pretty set on ordering it, but I gave Nupro another look because it includes the Omega fatty acids, garlic, and probiotics, among other things.
Do you know where Annamaet sources their green lipped mussels from? Just wondering about pollutants.

I really don't know. A good guess is New Zealand because NZ has a large shellfish cultivation industry, like Nova Scotia.

just wanted to add,,don't be surprised if you go with Nupro, and you start off with two scoops, you end up with a dog with diarhea...I did, and 'ouch', 3 dogs with diarhea not a good thing

I started off with 1/2 the amount, slowly upped it and then backed off

Oh yeah, good call. I did the same thing. Started with like 1/2 a scoop, then upped it to 2 scoops, then back down to 1.
