Question Confused About Health of 9 Months Old GSD

Hello,
This is Nikhil from India. I have a gsd dog, Clinton, who is about 9 months old.
I have a doubt about his growth(health) that whether he is growing according to his age or not. He is 26 inches tall in height & his weight is about 57 lbs( 1 month ago).
15 days back, he is suffering from fever(106' F) and he had not eaten anything for about 5-6 days. Now he is fine but he had lost some weight(not measured yet but he looks thin as compared to 1 month ago).
I want to know that how much food i should give to him. Does he need some extra diet to get his old shape back & gain some weight or the diet he taking earlier is enough.

looking for a reply !!

I would maybe up the amount of normal meals for a week or so, then get back to his normal amount.

If you can add in some digestive enzymes and probiotics that would help him too. Good to read he recovered from his illness!

Thanx for the suggestion.
I would surely increase his diet & look to add some more nutrients in his diet.

Nikhil:

There truly is no one set of numbers to give you. Different genetics/pedigrees equals different size and weight dogs. With German Shepherds being bred all over the world, as are most other breeds, there are different expectations for size and weight.

If your dog is in good flesh (not flabby and can feel his ribs when gently touching his sides), he is probably the correct weight for his particular frame. There are many 60 pound German Shepherds and there are also dogs that are in teh 100 pound range. It really depends upon their individual genetics/pedigree, nutrition and health.
