Default Value Pick of the Week

Verus Life Advantage 24/15

About $1lb, excellent quality food and a better food than BB, Solid Gold and Innova and much much cheaper.

@Sable......what food would you suggest, that is higher in calories (for hard keepers)...but easy on the budget.
Example: Kirkland Premium Chicken $25.00 per 40lb. around 390/met cals per cup. *prefer something in the 440-460 range per cup.*

...if you would rather...you can also pm me.

Pro Pac High Performance is one of my value favorites, there is breeder program and 10th bag is free. Really high quality, simple formula, never saw a dog that had an issue with it. GSD friendly no useless ingredients to muck things up. Super palatable. Same company as Earthborn.

Blue Seal Performance, not sure if distribution gets that far west. Good choice.

Loyall, Professional or High Energy, great value in 50lb bags. The calories are very misleading, this food packs the weight. Very aggressive breeder program. People I know using it love it. The label reads bad but it is made by Nutrena.

Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete, flip a coin on whether your dog gets the runs.

SportMix Black Bag, don't laugh a good solid food, 20% fat. Same company as Earthborn. 50lb bags around $25. The Meat Meal is beef & pork.

Except for Sportmix they are not as cheap as Kirklands but I really can't think of a food with 20% fat or more that is that cheap.

Another idea is to use Annamaet Impact on the hard keeper. It is a powder with 48% protein and 30% fat. This is what hunters, guides, show people and mushers use during training. Since you are a breeder it wouldn't be bad to keep around for the bitches. If you wanna see a coat light up try it.

Prism Performance is another good one 30/20. This is the food Wellness makes but does not advertise. It was part of Eagle Pack.

That is a nice value pick Sable. I would be curious what you thinks of Hi-Tek Naturals? It is by a company in Dublin, GA. They also make some cheaper foods, but I found this at a local holistic pet store here in Nashville. They are comparing the grain free formulas as similar to TOTW but it is a better price....$38.99 for a 30lb back grain free and then $28.99 for a 30lb bag with grains.

It looks good but I wouldn't spend the extra money on a GF unless there was a proven medical reason. The company is AIB Certified and that is very impressive.

Yeah I was very impressed with the fact that it is AIB Certified as well. I could not believe the price of it. The owner of the store (a small chain in Nashville) even went down to the factory himself and then decided to bring the food into the store.

I have been feeding the GF since it is the highest in calories and that is very important with a 60lb GSD and a 90lb boxer mix. Neither of whom are overweight even though I know 90lbs sounds big for a boxer he has something like mastiff, rottie or something along those lines in him.
