I wanted to clarify, I was not talking about the Retreiver, I was talking about the 4Health.

Thanks for the information and the link to the dog food ratings. I went to our new local TSC and checked the label for the Retriever it is junk. so I bought the 4Health High Performance, this was a great price at 30 Lbs for $ 35 same price for IAMs proactive at Walmart which is not good. So thanks for the tip guys! I start tomorrow will let you know how it goes. High performance has the highest protein my dogs are not working they are pets so hope it is not to much for them.

i wouldnt worry much about that. there are tons of members here who dont have working dogs, yet the dogs are still thriving eating grainless foods with higher protein than that.

Thanks Derek, I did not know much about food till I learned from here, I am ashamed to say I used to feed Iams, I bought TOTW before too for while but DH complained about cost and it is was not convenient to get, now we have this new store and they sell both 4health and totw so I might rotate between the two, the 30% protein high permanence is higher in calories than the other ones too and they have a hunting dog on the bag. So I was concerned about my dogs being your average dog. It was actually 35 pounds just read the bag, good deal for those on a budget for a better than grocery food.

I got my 4Health 35lb bag about six wks ago. I need to get a new bag next week. Just fed my dog for almost 7 wks for 25 bucks *was on sale and I had 5$ off coupon* ****, you can't beat that.
She poops 3 x a day instead of the 2 while on Orijen, but it's not a lot at once. I'm very happy w/ the food... the vets told me, it has to cost more to be good and didn't even want to hear about it. "never heard of it, probably isn't ever good" Umm.. no corn, wheat or soy. THEN the vet tec tells me that dogs need corn and tells me to get the gray bag of Purina Pro Plan which is a worse food and MORE expensive..forget that!

Heidi,
I starting feed the 4Health and have been meaning to tell you about it.I have tried the chicken and rice and just switched Athena to the LB Adult. So far so good. I haven't noticed any change in poop from the Fromm brand at $45 for 33#'s.

That's good to know it is working for Athena, Allie! We had $5 off coupon too, the high performance is $ more than the other ones, we will see how it goes, my dogs are not picky. I do add to the Kibble once a day and the other feeding it is just dry. They eat it up.

I do think I will buy the LB for Athena and the regular for Lexi. The LB kibble size is bigger and Lexi actually has to chew her kibble now so the bigger will be too big for her.If it gets to be a PITA I'll just put both on the regular chicken and rice.I'm not overly concerned with extra bone health stuff.
