Just looking at the ingredients alone, it's a middle of the line product. Better than the average grocery store but no where near the highest quality foods available such as Orijen, Wellness CORE and Innova EVO. Being in Canada I don't know the pricing differences.
As far as ingredients, it is very grain heavy; though I prefer a grain free product as I don't believe in grains as a natural part of the canine diet. I would prefer to see whole fresh egg instead of egg product and I find the added salt unwanted and unnecessary. I don't like the inclusion of beet pulp, it is a controversial ingredient. Some believe it is a cheap filler, while others feel it is useful source of fiber. Personally, I believe there are better options available and dislike its use in pet food. I may have missed it but I was unable to locate a guarantee from the manufacturer that the product is Ethoxyqin free. To me that's an issue due to the possible connection to cancer. Just my thoughts....

Kinda funny, when I joined this board in 2002 (I was feeding Purina Dog Chow at the time) everybody was all over Nutro Natural Choice and what a good dog food it was. A LOT of the people on here fed it. I remember when I switched on the advice of several people on the board I almost fell over at how much it cost compared to Purina. 4Health is quite a bit better than Nutro NC and now, 8 years later everyone's like "well, it's made at the Diamond plant and I haven't seen their ethoxyquin guarantee." Interesting how times change.

yep, I have to wonder if the dog food thing isn't taken a bit too far. 2# a lb for dog food, that's what I pay... and that's cheap for Orijen...
My sister has fed her dog nothing but Puppy/Dog Chow all her life. She's now 13 and still has quite a spring in her step for being an old bitch. Was she lucky? Eahhh, I find that hard to believe because, that would mean that there are a LOT of "lucky" dogs out there. I just got a 5$ off coupon from TS. I'm gonna try this and see how it goes. Even if it is 'grain heavy' it's a **** of a lot better than what I USED to feed my dogs... yeah, can you say it??? Dad's... that's right. The cheap crap... As of right now, Zeva hasn't shown me any reason she can have some grains in her diet. Does that make me a bad dog owner? Maybe in some ppls eyes... who knows, maybe, probably, but there are worse things that you can do to a dog than feed it a non top of the line food... Who knows, she might hate it, she might love it... only way to know for sure is to try it. Maybe I'll get the 4heath and it'll make the 95% canned easier to swallow and I can use it to coat her food every meal, because she seems to like the moist stuff better.

Just wanted to add that I've successfully switched two dogs to the 4Health and they seem to be doing great. I'm using the High Performance Formula (with the GSP on the front) which has 30% protein.

Zeva has been on the Puppy food for about six wks now. She's just as shinny and healthy as before. She actually eats this better than she did the Orijen. I plan on sticking w/ it. It's so much better priced and I've had no problems w/ it at all. We might be adding another pup to the household and w/ this food, it makes it more of a possibility than w/ the Orijen. 35lbs for 25-30 dollars.. can't beat that.
Some don't like it because it's made by Diamond, but.. so far, I'm happy w/ it.

here is the product page: Retriever® Hi Protein Dog Food - 2250059 | Tractor Supply Company gives ingredients as: Natural ingredients and Vitamins????????? 27% protein doesnt mean much if a majority of the protein is coming from low quality (ie non meat) ingredients. i remember seeing Retriever Hi Protein repeatedly during 08 recalls (think they were then part of Mars Petcare). i found a poster on another thread who said he got 50 lbs for $19.99. i could almost guarantee what the main ingredients are for food selling at $.40/lb.

Yea, I cant find the ingredients online, so it is a mystery, looking for something good and at a good cost. Maybe I will go visit the store and read the bag some day.
Fury your dogs are on it so far so good?

I put 3 dogs on it that I was feeding Blue Buffalo and kept 3 on BB. Cannot tell the difference. In fact, comparing ingredients of same cannot see much difference Both rated 4* by the rating system cited above
