Canidae alternative?

I know Canidae switched formulas. My dogs have still been eating the new Canidae and doing fine. But Gunner has started to develop ear infections, I'm assuming he's alergic to something in the new formula. We've always fed him Canidae & Canidae treats. If we ever gave a different (cheaper) treat, he would get ear infections. So we stuck with Canidae. Well on the new formula, he's getting another ear infection.

Any suggestions to another alternative to Canidae that is "similar" in formula? FROMM, Innova, Orijen, any of these good?

Sandy

Innova Evo, Orijen, Taste of the wild, any of those are good.

I had to go off Canidae the first time with Vishnu when the changed formula's years ago. Then they came out with chicken/rice, tried that. Oxana (who never had an ear infection) ended up with not only an ear infection but also a hemotoma. Took her off that and put her on TOTW, never had another ear infection since.

They've added Barley to their foods, Barley will give Dante an ear infection every time

Re: Canidae alternative?

I switched from Canidae to FROMM about a month ago. I'm very happy with the results - especially since my picky bitch likes it.

I switched from Canidae to Solid Gold Wolfking. My dogs absolutely love it!! I can honestly say, they have never enjoyed a food so much. They eat it right up without anything extra on top. I sometimes add a little water (mostly for Jessie) and about once a week I do add some defrosted green beans because my vet likes the idea of extra fiber.
They look great, no doggy odor, hair like silk and best of all, they LOVE it.

Re: Canidae alternative?

in additon to all the good suggestions given, perhaps the canidae grainless formulas would work. (or maybe the other new formula-is it beef & fish??)

Re: Canidae alternative?

I eventually ended at Orijen. She seemed to get really itchy skin with the Canidae and we switched to Natural Balance before we considered a grain allergy. Lots of energy on Orijen, overall pretty happy with it.
