My GSD pup is now 4 1/2 months and 30 pounds, he hasn't gained a pound in the last week and a half. Is this normal? He is healthy, and has been dewormed he did recently stop eating not completely but about half of what he should have been, but is now back to eating like he was.
Ok thanks i don't know a lot on large breed pups he's my first but I feel better about it now it was worrying me, I'm not a fan of the bigger ones either not that there's anything wrong with them I'm just hoping for average size
We'll at that age mine was 45ish, and she is a female and her mother was above average(about 75), so we're expecting around 65-75. I'd say yours will be in that sweet 65pound range
I have read that gsd have a huge/fast growing spurts from birth-4 months. Maybe since your boy is in the 4 month old stage, he is out of the very fast growing stage.
They do grow at different rates, at 16 weeks you would want your pup to be gaining around 2 pounds a week up to about 5mo then around 1.6 pounds per week. 30 pounds is a good weight for a 4mo. Don't stress if he doesn't gain in a week, just monitor him and if he stops growing over a few weeks then I would seek medical advice.
Don't think you should worry. My pup weighed in at 30 pounds and 4 1/2 weeks as well and both his parents were in the 60-75 pound range. Even when we first brought him home, I had doubts he was a GSD at all because he was soo frickin' tiny.
