Default Puppy Ears!!

My puppies ears are doing the ear dance, and I read somewhere that once I see them go up, they'll be up once he's done teething. Is this true? Because they were both up at one point. He's 19 weeks now and only one is up and not solidly up, it's still floppy. Also the tip of that ear that is up is slightly curving back, is this normal? Will it straighten out? I don't want to have to tape them up.

I can't positively answer your question however, our pup is 16 weeks and at first the left ear was up, then they were both up, then the left ear dropped and the right ear stayed up. Now once in a while they are both up, then both down. I personally think it is what it is and eventually they will both go up. Mom and Dad had both ears up and I trust that his will both be up in the end.

Our Fezzik is 8.5wks old. His right ear was up and strong since we got him at 7 weeks and his left was floppy. Then his left ear went up a few days ago and now his right ear is down and very floppy. This back snd forth is stressing me out

There are many many opinions on this. My opinion is, if you'll love your dog the same whether or not the ears come up completely, then it's irrelevant, so don't worry about it. It's my impression that most ears will come up fully, and some will not. It's also my impression that, if your dog's ears are of the variety that will come up, then they will come up all by themselves, and if they DON'T come up, it's NOT because you neglected to do something that would have otherwise "made" them perfect. You can interfere with nature and try to correct ears that weren't meant to stand, but it seems that there are drawbacks to all of these methods, some of them serious, and there are still no guarantees. So again, if you'll love your dog the same no matter how the ears turn out, I say don't worry about it and let nature take it's course.

Default Ears up?

Done the tape and curler fix many times over the last 30 years ( the pups usually hate it), but the truth is if they are going to come up, they will usually come up on their own, with some exceptions!
