Default My puppy's colors???

Ok, 1st off, I'm new to this forum and I look forward to many years on this site as my dog grows and develops. I got Storm @ 6 weeks (yes I know they breeder should have waited till 8 weeks) and her and a cpl of the other pups were a lighter tan and gray with a little black(2 females and 1 male same colors) and the other (2 males and 2 females) were more of a traditional black with just a little tan. The mother was a textbook black and tan and the father was an all white gsd. Supposedly genetically the colors don't mix but I'm wondering why my dog's colors are so light. And is there any chance her colors will darken? Is she considered a black and tan or a sable? She is 11 weeks old today and the pics were taken yesterday and today. Thanks for the help.

Looks to be a light colored sable. And if not sable, then very light black & tan.

She'll be a sable. But I agree, she doesn't really look purebred....

I could be wrong, but I believe breeding a white with a colored GSD will often dilute the color. (But don't quote me on that).

She's a sable, but I agree she doesn't look purebred to me. It's entirely possible that two males (the white GSD and another unknown) both bred the female. Considering the pup was let go at 6 weeks I doubt the "breeder" was a very responsible one.

Here are the pics I was sent by the byb. I guess after further review, most of the pups are lighter than the normal black and tan. Supposedly the white male was registered and the female wasn't. Can sable come from a black and tan?

Sable is dominant over black and tan, so no.

But I'm not sure about whites....
Don't quote me on this, but I think the white can cover sable.

The white male may be sable with the white masking it.
