How does my Boy rate on Development Obedience??
At 13 weeks, Working Dog sort Black GSD, will sit, getting the lay down thing about half the time on his own... House broke, and will stay 5-10 seconds, will heel (if nothing too distracting), will recall when turned loose 100%, and will recall from barking at cattle trying to herd.. 100% He will also fetch and cricket ball (heavy tennis ball size) when thrown out down the dirt road 40 Meters, nearly 100% until he gets tired or hot. Socialized, but barks at shadows or something large out of place, or any larger animal until called off..
Really, this is not a brag, it has been 10 years since my Senior Dog was a puppy, 6-7 years since my last GSD puppy, and I honestly do not remember. It does seem to me, by little Pup is very clever, and at a very early age. What do you think? Dancing with wolves in Australia.. heh he |
Yes your pup was certainly worth waiting for. You have really lucked out. I am glad my Sting is not that age, or all he would be hearing is "why can't you do what Lone Ranger's pup is doing?"

Thank you Mary Beth, very kind of you...
It was not a brag, I honestly cannot remember, but I do not think my other GSD pups were doing anything like this good at 13 weeks... I do not want to let him out of my sight. I am a little cautious, and am backing off his exercise and trying to go easy on things to let him be a puppy more. He is sleeping through the night, no problems and a lot of fun. In fact today he is sleeping through most of the day as well.. heh he.. Today at lunch we were working on "stay" in the laying down position and I think he got it.. Kind regards from Australia |
Your pup sounds just like my Sting's brother, Dart. The breeder told me that she had been waiting 10 years for a gsd with a beautiful temperament like Dart has, wanting to please, easy to train. So enjoy :)

Your pup sounds like mine - smart!! Dont worry about laying down, my boy knows it well but doesnt always do it first time. I think they would rather do something else but in time he'll drop to the floor when asked no problem.
