One year old observations

A few things I have noticed at the one year mark:

Finally starting to fill out. No more, "Wow, he's skinny" comments.

Only chews on his toys instead of anything we have left on the floor.

Absolutely requires outdoor exercise and room to run...I can no longer wear him out with a game of living room fetch.

Puts himself to bed around 9 and sleeps hard til morning

Becoming more affectionate

Has learned to charm the cashiers at Petsmart into extra treats by pretending to be a perfect gentleman (for about 30 seconds).

Still loves anything squeaky

Still stares at his tail sometimes like it is an enemy trying to attack his butt

Is a trustworthy off-leash hiking partner

And the thing that caused me to want to share my "one year old observations": he's starting to look at me with those wise, knowing eyes of an adult dog.

Nita just turned 1 year old last week and I have to agree with you :)

I love that I can almost leave my shoes out without worrying about them ;) Actually there are many things I love about her maturing :)

I love the puppy stage we're at (14wks), but your post does make me have something even more to look forward to. Thanks for sharing!

YES!!! Same here but it was a 24/7 job and so worth it. Congratulations for having endured the first year. WD has a few more weeks to go for that milestone.
