Intro 8WK old to 9 Year Old

We brought home our 8wk old GSD Bentley on Wednesday and we currently have a 9 yr old female GSD. The adult tolerates the new puppy, but either growls to keep him away from her or completely ignores him. The puppy wants to play of course, but the adult wants nothing to do with him really? Do you think this will change over time and are there ways to try to get them to interact more? We try to do fun things like walks together and playing outside to promote fun things happening when they are together.

I have a now 8 year old female(non GSD) that was 7 when I brought in my GSD. The older one played with the GSD a little bit when the GSD was younger, the older female played with my now 3 year old male golden MUCH more. I think the GSD was just way to energetic for her. Now the GSD is 15 months and every now and then they play, but the older female does not hesitate to correct the GSD or go out of her way to play with her. The GSD does keep trying, so maybe she'll break her down, but I don't think that will happen. I'm glad that my golden and GSD have each other to play with.

Yeah it's too bad. Our 9 yr old GSD gets a little stiff sometimes, but overall is a HIGHLY energetic and playful dog still. She just has a major addiction to her ball rather than other dogs. We were hoping that she would eventually run and play with the pup, but that may not happen. Might just have to stick to the ball to tire her out and see what the new puppy likes to do.

Savor the times that she does decide to play with the puppy
