Hey everyone,
Hoping you can help me out. My puppy Trigger I was told is 6 weeks old. When I took him to the vet, he was only 3.7 pounds. I'm wondering if this is normal. He sleeps a lot, and eats normally, but not as much as I expected. I want to say he might be younger than what the people said when I got him. Here is a few pictures of him. Thanks |

Are you sure about his weight? He looks very small. Six weeks is too young to be away from the litter. They should stay with mom and litter mates until they are 8 weeks old. He looks thin, and I'm not sure if he is purebred. Sleeping a lot is normal, especially if he is younger than the six weeks they said he was.
What are you feeding him? Where did you get him from?

Well not sure what we can help you with. If he has been seen by a vet and is healthy, then just feed a good food and keep an eye on him. Personally I would feed a premium kibble, not Pro Plan. He may have been a runt and will catch up, or he may be on the small side always.
His proportions and coloring seem off to me from the pics you have posted (head looks too big for the body, the white blaze on the forehead is not something you would expect in a GSD pup - but sometimes pups are born with some white spotting that goes away as they mature - something off in his face for a GSD - did you see the parents? What kind of setup did the family that owned the female have? Wonder if another dog got in there and fathered the pups). Now that you have him, the main thing is to hope he will be fine and enjoy him.
