I need to get rogue to use her nose more. She uses her eyes first. Sometimes when I point to a dropped treat it takes me forever to get her to "see" it because she's not sniffing for it. How do I get her to search for things in the house? Where do I start? Any other suggestions?

You could blindfold her! J/K
I did this game with Kyleigh when she was a puppy. I took three solid coloured tupperware containers (can't see through them) and I hid her bone under one of them and then I moved them around really fast. She had to sniff at the right one to get her bone - and by sniff, I mean I had to be sure she KNEW it was there ... she'd paw at it too!!! Then I knew she knew it was under THAT one! (kind of like the pea under the shell game) You could do this with her treats (just make sure you remember which one has it!) and only lift if up when she's got the right one

Consider yourself lucky! Grim ONLY uses his nose...so walks are a blast. He could walk right into a brick wall (and has actually walked off things by accident) because he doesn't use his eyes!
Too bad we can't breed them, LOL! The pups would use both!

you drop something then you point to it because you
want her to find it. maybe she doesn't know you want her to find something when you point to it. maybe she's not interested in what you're dropping. can you play "find it" (hide something then send your dog to find it) with your dog? Quote:
