Anthony's post gave me pause (Walking dogs, proud of Kira) I've been contemplating this for a while. Sasha is very athletic and weighs 63 lbs at almost 8 months. She's pure muscle. The reason is we play a lot of Frisbee and ball. However, I could spend a good hour playing Frisbee with her and it will tire her out but an hour walk with me just makes her happy. Why? What is it about walks that are different? Is it the new smells? Is it pack behavior? I don't know and just wondered if anyone knows why a dog likes to walk so much. Sasha and I also hike but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any kind of walk seems to make Sasha happy. Truly happy. It calms her in a way that a hardcore Frisbee session doesn't. I am posting this because I'm also scared. There are wild animals in my area, coyotes and other things and there are wild dogs. I read the posts for Anthony and now I see danger everywhere... Sorry for the rambling... I'm just wondering about walks/pleasure/danger... Gosh, I am sort of freaked out now. Should we walk our dogs? Why do they love it so much? I hope this makes some sort of sense.

Let me add that everyone seems to have a horror story about walking their dogs on Anthony's thread. I'm already worried and started carrying a walking stick that I made out of a big branch that fell from my Maple tree.... Ugh. Please tell me that I won't have to protect Sasha from 2 loose dogs!!!
