Default Normal growth?

I just need some reassurance I think.

My ~10mo rescue female is in the mid 50lb range and 23" tall. She was 22" a few weeks ago.

This is normal right? She looks so small though!!!!!

Maybe this is just bc I have two big boys in the house too.

She just looks so petite...not anything like the other female GSDs her age I see. She still looks like 6-7mo puppy.

Is she still going to grow? As in fill out?

She's still young so I think she still has some filling out to do. You likely just have a small girl is all . I wouldn't worry about it unless she seems underweight but 50 pounds for 23" at her age seems fine.

That's about how big Halo was at that age. At 3 years old she's right around 60 pounds. It's a great size, that puts her right at the mid-point of the SV (German) standard for an adult female. She looks "little" to me because she's 20 pounds less than Keefer, and 10-15 pounds less than our previous females. But she is FAST, agile, and athletic!

Excellent point! Having a smaller Shepherd is an advantage in certain sports like Agility.

I agree that she sounds like an excellent size! I had a female GSD about 10 months old that I was fostering and adopted her out to a friend. They kept saying she was so small. I think people are getting used to seeing these giant females and males. I think your girl is just right!

We have the smallest puppy from the litter. Effie is 5 months and weighs 50 pounds. We would love it if she just stopped growing now.

Abbie is one year old, and right in the mid 50s... She is long and lanky. People at club call her skinny minnie and tell me I need to fatten her up. Several of the younger dogs are bigger and heavier than her. I try to fatten her up with a reasonable additions to her diet, but it doesn't work. She just stays that size, and I'm not willing to free feed her lard and bacon just to put some weight on her...

My Abby was the same at 1. At 2.5 people still think she is a male puppy and comment on how big HE will be when HE fills out. Well, she is full grown at 68 and 25.5 inches. She appears long but she is properly proportioned and moves like a lioness. We have to accept our dogs as they are and let the opinions of others roll off.
