Maybe a dumb question, so feel free to bombard me.
In my past experiences with GSD's, I don't recall any of them having longer hair along the top of their backs, like Kira. The hair along her back is 3-4 inches long, and tapers, as you go down towards her belly. Is there a specific name for her coat type? Here's a pic from today. Maybe you can see what I'm referring to.

She is a short stock coat, and don't be surprised if the wavy hair on the spine starts getting some sable coloring(bitch stripe) Her tail will probably fill out really nice. Usually puppies new coat will come in wavy on that area then smooth out as they age. SL's tend to have a thicker coat but she is not a stock long coat.
She's really pretty, I love her dark muzzle and her feet are really nice! |

She does have some salt / pepper along her back. She has a little "snow cap" just behind her withers too. I do see her tail getting really bushy, and the underside getting a fiery red color. I also see her backside getting bushy too. Question.... What are the basic coat types? Short stock coat Long stock coat anything else? |

A long coat without the undercoat, that is not very common, and the dog will usually have a part down the spine. Also a mole coat, which is a tight stock coat like a dobe....but again that is not common at all. |

I like her compactness and her pasterns are strong looking. Some GSD's have loose long toes with weaker pasterns, I don't like that look at all. My stock long coat has feet the size of saucers, even with her foot fluff trimmed.
