Default Some people are just SO....whatever.

OK, I'm convinced that Kira is on the "Small side". She's 35lbs, at 5 months, +1 week.
That's perfectly fine with me. I'm running out of living space anyway

So..... Yesterday, while hanging out in the park, I get YET ANOTHER "Oh my, she's so small for 5 months".
To which I reply... No she's actually big for her "breed".
What do you mean? I was asked.

Answer.... She's a domestic, West German Show line, Pygmy Shepherd.

Within minutes, there were a bunch of people asking me about this "new breed".

Hey why not. It was worth a laugh on my part.

LOL! Because Rocket has some "string" on his ears, I always get "You're sure he's not mixed with something else??

( BTW--She doesn't look small in the videos and pictures I've seen. I think she's right on for a female, isn't she?)

Hey, don't feel bad, Saber is not a GSD because she has "too much black." I love your new breed label. Maybe Saber can be a Stealth Extra-Black Shepherd and Rocket can be a Camoflage-Eared Shepherd.

Strings? Lol.
I'd suggest DNA, he might be a Collie in a GS suit

Compared to other shepherds in the area, she is small. Even the girls that work the desk at the vet, commented that she's smaller than what usually walks in there.

I expecting her be in the 55-65 lb range as an adult.

HA! I'm so going to use that:

"Oh, he's in his Collie/Camouflage suit today. He's a top-secret dog for the Star Chamber"

:P

Nothin' wrong with that! That would put her well within the standard. Halo is about 60 pounds (at 3 years old), which is a great size. She's a lot smaller than my previous females, which have all been in the 70-80 pound range. She looks "small" to me, since she's 20 pounds less than Keefer, and smaller than any other GSD we've had.

It always amazes me when I'm out walking her and people comment on her being a "big dog". But she's so little!!!

Saber is 64 pounds and I think she is perfect! So agile and athletic. She might fill out a bit more but I am glad she is not huge.

I think your pup will be an excellent size when full-grown. She will not be 110 pounds, but that would be grossly over-sized.
