Default Coat pattern question

I have two 7 month old GSD puppies we adopted from a local rescue. They are black and tan, but I have a question about how their coats are developing. Here are two photos of them, one at 3 mo. and one at 6 mo. At first, their coats were solid black on their backs, but now seem to be showing a lot of cream colored fur. Normal? How far will it continue? Thanks in advance.

They are both gorgeous and the one looks HUGE!

How about a standing side view of the both of them????

I don't have a standing photo because they are almost always in constant motion. Unless they are asleep, or about to be.

They look like typical black and tans. As they grow and their adult coat comes in, you'll start to see less and less black.

As for the white striping down their back, it's called a "bitch stripe". It's common and very normal for the black and tans. It will probably become more prominent as they grow.

This is Silver, our Norwegian Elkhound. He is a rescue, too, and somewhere between 12 and 14yrs old. We've had him for 10 years, and he wasn't thrilled with having two rampaging puppies invade his space. After a slow, careful introduction, he decided they were all right. As long as they stay off his sofa!

Silver is a good looking ol man As for your pups. Looks normal to me. Kaos was almost completely black when we brought him home, as he grew he developed much more tan/cream in his coloring. K has a pretty dominant bitch stripe as well (guess it's true they take after their owners)

Your pups are adorable by the way!
