Sexual behavior before maturity?

My 4 month old male GSD has been, ahem, "exploring" himself lately. Mostly stimulating himself with his leg or mouth. When do GSD's usually hit puberty (is it even called that?) and is it normal for them to have this kind of behavior so young? My hunch is everything's cool but y'know, I just wanted to get some other opinions. Thanks!

63 and no one replies? Jeez you guys are prudes ;-) Well, I did some research and yeah, it's all good healthy normal stuff.

No one here is prudish, I don't think, but are you sure he's not just licking and scratching like dogs do?

Wouldn't worry about it anyway.

My male likes his, uh, parts. He attends to them fairly regularly. Ugh.

Razzle prefers to go behind the couch and "explore" in private. I'm sure it's normal..or at least that's what I keep telling myself!

Not a prude but I have raised a number of male dogs and never really noticed it other than the ocassional erection if they get excited and play and the "lipstick" showling sometimes......just not something I ever really observed.

Prolly not a great way to start off on the forum by kind of insulting folks.
