Getting ready for winter?
My female german shepherd just turned 5 months and weights 58 pounds. Is she growing so fast and putting on weight for the winter? She is much bigger than the average weight that she should be at 5 months. Did anyone else have a female this size at 5 months?

Why are you concerned about her gaining weight? Is she an outdoor dog?
Dogs grow, unless completely overfed, as their genetically designed to grow. Like people, some dogs just grow faster than others. Are her sire and dam large dogs?

You have a large breed dog. They tend to grow pretty quickly. 58 lbs at 5 months sounds a bit heavy to me but if you can post a picture of her from the side and one from above we can better determine. Keep in mind some dogs grows faster than others. They dont all gain weight at the same pace. No, she's not putting on weight and growing for the winter.
