My parents were over yesterday and we were discussing when GSDs become "adults"...
My mom insisted it was supposed to be at one year old, my dad said at least 2. In my opinion, I don't even consider an 18 year old human an "adult", for me it's at least 25-30 when they can make mature, rational decisions based on life experiences. Jax has gotten significantly better at calming down after people come in the house, but it still takes him about 10 minutes... Can I reasonably expect him to one day just walk up to a guest, give a sniff and go lay down? |

I think it's closer to 3 than 2. Sort of like people....big changes between 20's and 30's.

Human years, Dog years, and Man years.
I used to say that the "golden age" was two...that's when the dogs slowly starts settling down and not challenging every little thing. I seriously don't remember my male being that bad at one year as Alice was. Temperament is everything but Alice was quite the flying monkey. |
