When we got Frag he was about 3 months, and my BF (sole caretaker) has a cousin that's three now, but he was two at the time. What we did was invite them over, and of course, a 2y/o just wants to lay all over a dog and play, but this kid's really mature for his age (and CRAZY) so we explained to him that "Frag wouldn't like him if he screamed and ran and jumped and layed all over him" we made him stand still in the middle of the living room, and brought Frag closer and closer on a leash, treating the whole way. Got to Kaleb, then put Frag in a down stay, and let Kaleb slowly (with help from us for pressure reasons) bend down and pet him. Frag tried jumping up a few times to lick his face so at that point we made Kaleb stand right back up, acting like a tree. We use the phrase "Easy Frag, that's a baby" for him to be calm around little ones, and he learned it pretty quick and eventually laid still around him while he petted. After a while I let Frag stand up but didn't let him get in Kaleb's face. Kaleb didn't run, and Frag was great. Now when ever we say "Easy Frag, that's a baby," he almost cowers down like he's acting carefully and lets them pet him.
