Default Just a sad situation - Northern Indiana GSD Breeder and dogs found living in filth

I have started following this story because the local GSD Rescue here in Indy has taken in a few of these dogs. From the pics I have seen they appear to have lots of scabs and fly/flea bites, and are very wary of people. The story says the breeder used to be considered respectable but it sounds like his health went downhill and his partner dropped out of the picture, so everything got out of hand. I hope the dogs are able to recover and move on to a better life.

Here is the link to the story

I have been following this story here in Indy as well! Unbelievable how someone could treat animals like that and live in such deplorable filth. One of the poor females I saw on GSD indy rescue FB page was pregnant and looked emaciated. I hope she is strong enough to whelp her pups. It is just negligence! The owner should have sought out help a long time ago. Hope those beautiful animals can learn to trust and be placed in homes.

I have also been following the story and the updates on the Indy Rescue page. It's a very sad thing. The first pictures of them huddled in the corner trying to hide from the world were heart breaking. I hope the one that is pregnant ends up ok, she looks to be older. I feel so bad for the lady that runs the rescue, she is a saint.

I'm ashamed to say I knew Jonathan Peck many years ago and he didn't have a sterling reputation back then, but nothing this vile. FWIW he died last Saturday ... "Jonathan Peck, 70, of Medaryville, IN. passed away peacefully on July 12, 2014 at Indiana University Health - La Porte Hospital."
