Default a GOOD story about LEOs helping GSDs

Given all the sad stories lately about dogs and police, I want to share a very positive one from my community -- sheriff deputies going above and beyond to help a couple of lost, friendly GSDs find their way home yesterday (even letting one cool off in the front seat of the police cruiser by the A/C vent on a very hot, humid Louisiana summer day):

Good stories like this don't get told very often, but these are pretty terrific guys going above-and-beyond to help a couple of dogs.

Sounds like those dogs need a better owner. Always nice to see anyone look after loose dogs like that.

Good to know there are nice and caring officers out there. In my area I've met several officers that love GSDs and have owned them. We definitely need more positive stories here!

I will tell you a good story. My Hubby an LEO was on his way to work and saw a dog run out onto the highway, get hit, and go back to the side of the road. Hubby pulled over to help the dog, and it was in a bad way. He called the local animal control, then tried to comfort the dog while waiting for help. Hubby was bit badly for his efforts, yet still tried to help the dog in any way he could. He even went to the animal hospital with the dog and made sure the owners were found. He stayed there until he knew the dog's prognosis. Only then did he go to the hospital himself and get the dog bites to his hand and arm stitched up. He even called the animal hospital the next day to see if the dog was ok. The vet told him that because of his quick response in getting the dog help, the dog would live.

Good to hear stories like these. I'm sure the bad ones are way in the minority; they are just the ones that go viral and we hear about them. Thanks for sharing.

I'm probably gonna get beat up a little but here's my story.. Three days ago I'm at work and I get a call from my wife. She went shopping and when she got home our front door is wide open and there are 4 to 6 LEO's in our house and yard.

She walks in and ask what's going on? They ask her if these are our dogs ( 2 GSD, 2 yrs and 1 yr ).. My wife says yes and ask why. Well it turns out while she was gone they figured out how to open the front door ( have French handles on doors ) and decided to go for a walk

Long story short the police picked them up at a park 2 miles from home. Luckily they are both chipped and have tags. I am sooo grateful they brought them home. We are well aware of how bad this could have been. To have officers not only approach two GSD but to safely bring them home.

I immediately called them and thanked them so much. My boys mean the world to me. They truly are my best friends. We now have deadbolts on all the doors and we are planning a surprise lunch for all of them..

We live in Parma, Ohio..
