Am I the only one who thinks it would have been better to euthanize this poor dog?

No, you're definitely not the only one. She looks like she hurts just by existing. I can't understand how a vet could agree to treat her rather than euthanize for humane reasons.

I agree... but I don't... If prognosis for a good life is high after treatment, then I don't necessarily believe the treatment is cruel. Besides, looking at the larger picture, she is a very good poster child for the fight against back yard breeders.

Whether she is " a good poster child for the fight" or not I think she should have been put to sleep, she cant eat properly or walk properly, light hurts the poor thing, IMHO it would have been more humane to put her down than to keep her like that

But that's pretty dependent on what you think a good life would be for this dog. I would have a hard time believing that they could fix the scoliosis. I also can't see how they would correct the fusion in the bones so that she could ever walk properly. Her teeth are too big for her mouth to close, so they're either going to have to file them down or pull them out.

I just.. I can see that she makes a great posterchild against byb, but why should she have to go through all of that just to have a barely normal life after everything that she has ALREADY been through.

There's bad and then there's BAD

This is a BAD case and yes it would tear my heart but I would euthanize, the poor thing is just not meant for this world

I'm sure there were other healthier animals in that back yard breeding situation that were euthanized. Sometimes an animal just touches your heart and in case they don't have another chance to live, someone just wants to give them a decent life even if it's not under the best circumstances...so I don't know if this pup should've been euthanized...

This is hard. My gut reaction was; take a million pictures, give her the best day of her life, then put her to sleep, then do a very good necropsy so that the dangers of BYBs like this one would be put in black and white.

At the same time...as a long as the dog is not in pain or suffering, I'm not sure if I would be able to euthanize her just because of how she looks.

If you get about 6:15 into the video, it looks like she may be enjoying a little playtime. She is definitely severly physically disabled, but I'm not convinced she should have been euthanized.

I am convinced the poor dear shouldn't have been bred to begin with So terribly irresponsible, but I suppose where there's hoarding, mental health issues are involved. The fault here runs deeper than your average ignorant BYB. If the human who produced her had been properly treated, this likely could have been avoided.
