Default Another "dogs shot by neighbor" article

Greenville families torn after dog killings | The News Leader | newsleader.com

I think this case is a little more clear cut than the case we've been discussing recently where two dogs were shot by hunters after running off.

In this case, the dogs went outside with the owner who was going out to water horses in one of their fields. The dogs ducked under the fence and took off into the neighbor's corn field. Apparently, no attempts were made to call the dogs back because the next thing we hear about is that her sister and brother-in-law tell her they heard gun shots when she gets back to the barn 10 minutes later.

Further into the article, it mentions that the neighbor who shot their dogs had previously filed a complaint with police about their dogs running loose and chasing his horses, for which the family seems to have nothing but excuses, from "it can't have been them, we bring them in at night" to "horses wouldn't be threatened by farm dogs".

I'm bothered by the dog owners' attitude that their dogs should be allowed to run loose and that the neighbor shouldn't be fussing about it because "horses aren't threatened by farm dogs." I'd be pissed, too, if their dogs kept running around my property and chasing my horses if I were their neighbor, to be honest.

This is simply disgusting. She sees the dogs go off of her property onto the neighbor's property after the neighbor had already complained about her dogs chasing his horses.

Horses that are around dogs regularly may not be bothered by the farm dogs. But horses that are not around dogs will be. That which runs must be chased. Even if I was 100% sure it wasn't my dogs, I would not EVER give the man any reason to be upset about my dogs.

Who exactly here is arrogant. The guy doing the shooting, or the people watching their dogs go over to the neighbor's property and pay no attention whatsoever.

They have themselves to blame. We all love dogs, else we would not be here. But horse people love their horses just as much.

It's the country. Many people feel the same; "they are dogs, that's what they do".

Not just that ... one of the dogs that was shot was a dog she was WATCHING that belonged to someone else. I would never agree to watch someone else's dog and then just let it run loose all over the place. That's just dumb.
